Whitepaper – DMS Best Practices from the Industry Experts
NetDocuments has a robust channel partner ecosystem that is made up of some of the industry’s leading experts when it comes to technology, strategy, training, and software implementation. NetDocuments recently reached out to a few to get their opinions and perspectives on several key areas firms should consider when selecting and implementing a document and email management solution. This document entitled “Whitepaper – DMS Best Practices from the Industry Experts” has been prepared to offer you the benefit of the thoughts and experiences of these experts, which includes our own Tony Foy, Managing Director of Peregrine Cloud.
In this whitepaper, Tony Foy from NetDocuments experts Peregrine Cloud, has outlined the importance of a properly defined statement of work, which should form the basis for agreement on the work required to implement a document management system.
What is a statement of work? The purpose of the statement of work document is to clearly and fully define the scope of the work required to implement the required system. It should cover all aspects of the implementation project, for both client and consultant to sign off. Nothing should be left out and there should be no room for conjecture – no one wants disputes between client and consultant.
The scope of the work should be detailed
- All of the deliverables should be listed
- Any known potential extra cost work on deliverables should be listed as such
- Ensure the training approach is clearly stated
- The approach to be take to import documents should be detailed
- Ensure there is a one-page summary of all costs
- Ensure the payment milestones and dates are defined
- Provide sign-off opportunities for each milestone and the project as a whole
